The initial batch of Sony Vita launch games have had their file sizes revealed, showing us what to expect when the games start hitting retail.

It seems TheSixthaxis has had its initial batch of review games and although as of yet Sony has not sent us any, we can see that the file sizes do vary quite a bit in size.

    WipEout 2048: 1.6GB
    Reality Fighters: 670MB
    Uncharted: Golden Abyss: 3.3GB
    Everybody’s Golf 6: 1.2GB
    ModNation Racers: 1.4GB
    Little Deviants: 1GB
As you can see, the file sizes come in between 600mb to around 3.5GB, meaning that if you are downloading these from the store you will need a large memory card, especially when you take into account the patches and save files.

So your looking at about 1.5gb - 1.8gb on avarge per game space, when you take into account 10 or so games on your card.

A typical 32gb could be used as follows,

20gb for games = 13 or so games on your card at any one time
    9gb for Video, music, media
    3gb for patches and saves

Not too bad as you can easily swap games from pc/ps3 to vita if you have more, I would think 13 vita games at any one time on your card is plenty?

Still waiting for uk PSN prices, games retail at £35 so maybe PSN games will retail for £30, the thing is though games can be bought online for as low as £27.99 so the PSN will maybe work out more exspensive?

The difference between JP, PSN and retail is about £8 so I don't think UK will get better than £5 lower for PSN of RRP.

I agree, 13 or more games on your 32GIG memory card is more than enough, and having the option between swapping files to your PS3 and PC gets rid of the problem of 'not having enough space.' Oh man, I can't wait to play UCGA and Wipeout. I'm actually looking forward to Wipeout more than UCGA just because racing runs in my blood!

I was thinking of getting a 32 gb but I am lacking in funds so I think I'll get 16 gb, I won't download any music, strictly games and entertainment so that still leaves me 9 or 10 games

Depends on what you copied it from. And file sizes have proven to be different for different teritorries.

And that listing for Good People Die is just the size of the demo btw.

The average of all the file sizes above 200mb on the JP digital downloads were somewhere around 1.2GB. Ignoring the 24mb games and digital downloads that would drastically throw off the avg.

I fixed it up for you. Sad knowing I have to spend loads on a memory card when I can be getting games, but oh well it will be worth it.

They don't right now. Doesn't mean they won't later or that someone else like Atlus won't pick it up.

Quoted this just to point out that with storage devices, approximately 7% of the storage amount stated (for example, 32 GB in this case) is not available to use.

So for the memory cards, the space available for use will be roughly:

    4 GB = 3.7 GB
    8 GB = 7.4 GB
    16 GB = 14.8 GB
    32 GB = 29.6 GB

I am not posting this to be picky, just to inform you all that you never have the exact amount stated available to use.

I don't think its that big a difference. With PSP it was only around 20 mb or something.
Also shame we don't get the 32gb card in EU :(

I'll just settle with the 16gb, also saves me some money and just store every game on PS3 and PC as well so I don't need to download it everytime again. And I won't use it to put 10gb of music and vids.

Hmm I think my 8 gb will last me forever pretty much since I'm buying physical and on the game cartridges they have space on them so that's where it saves and the only games I'll download are download only titles like escape plan hustle kings and top darts and I might download a game that I will want everywhere maybe unit 13
