A tablet is a Gadget, a PC is a personal computer wich are designed to be a computing device on wich you can acces the internet, process text, edit vids/pics and even make your own website. In addition to that developers found ways to run games on it and connect it to TV and homecinema and use it for watching and storing movies and stuff. The fact that it is all upgradable and adjustable to your needs (Video cards, memory, processor, discreader/writer, soundcards, etc) A tablet is like a console. You buy it to carry around and acces the internet and sometimes play small flash games or even EDIT TEXT. All those things can be done much better on a desktop PC and even a laptop. Attaching two weird nuchucks with joysticks and making it able to play games on it that also can be done on a PC won't justify the development costs and the price of over 1000$. For that money you can build an amazingly powerfull computer that can do the same with a lot more and even ten times better.
I won't be buying a tablet for gaming. Even if they attach weird nunchucks. If I wan't to game on the go I'll use the Vita wich is smaller and has quality titles on it.

It is amazing how much we fight different kinds of technology, when it has evolved to cross boundaries that were thought incompatible a short time before. Tablets, laptops, dedicated portable gaming devices exist for a reason. As much time as we spend sitting in front of a PC or console, sometimes we want to do something while on the bus, tram, or train. Sometimes we just feel like going to a park and surfing the internet, or checking the surf while riding along in the car, to see which point is the best. Technology is evolving to the point where we can do such a thing.

Right now, the idea of combining games, office tools, and other forms of entertainment is still in it's infancy. There is no one device that can do everything well...but that doesn't mean we should disregard every bit of hardware that leads up to it. Look to the Playstation controller and how it evolved over time. This tablet is a raw attempt at pulling something together better than an iPad, and I commend that. It's about time somebody take a stab at a portable gaming tablet with dedicated controls. It doesn't look sexy because it's a prototype. It overheats because it's a prototype. The PS3 and XBox 360 consoles were overheating in their own kiosks before they were released! Every good gaming device has a history of bad gaming devices before it.

If Apple had a clue as to how much gaming plays on the success of their hardware we'd have a ton more compatible peripherals with the current popular tablet of choice, including a gaming controller. The important distinction to make is that it was an active decision to not support that functionality. It's fully possible and completely logical, but for some reason this company has yet to put two and two together. A lot of people become swayed by brand names and forget that the available hardware isn't as good as it could be with the current state of technology.

Razer has some creative freedom since most of their lineup addresses the hardcore. It is a bit odd coming out with a tablet that has console controls, since their user base isn't particularly console driven. Even so, I am a PC gamer and a console gamer, and it doesn't really bother me as long as the controls are accurate and the build quality is good. This is a very early look at what is possible, and it is a good thing someone is trying this...who wants to be stuck with a huge library of mediocre games and no controller support? At least this is pure windows and compatible with all sorts of things. It has bluetooth so anything windows is compatible with (keyboards, mice, gaming controllers, etc.) will be available to use.

I think that if we take a good look at our current state of technology, we might find that we are gradually going more towards a modular approach. Everybody needs a screen and some base level of interaction. That's a tablet. Then we need support for devices, enough power to play games and high resolution movies. Some of that has been done. Soon we may be able to dock tablets to stations to take advantage of faster processors. Remember Neo Geo? They allowed the rich kids to take their game cartridges into the arcade and plug them in. Full arcade quality games with your own saves...the tech was there a long time ago. It's just the this blasted industry and the red tape over patents and the like that turn the evolution into a quagmire.

For the record: I post a lot with a bluetooth keyboard on my ipad...comfort level for me is no different from what I'm using right this moment; a monitor on an armature with an an extended USB keyboard. To me the only difference is my BT keyboard doesn't have the numeric keypad attached (I don't use it that often anyway). My iPad case allows it to stand on its own in various positions. Whether it suffices is based on opinion, I just wanted to point out it is possible.

I agree that progress isn't a bad thing and I really like the idea of just surfing the net while laying on my couch while playing some relaxating music but I think tablets try to be to much things wich often decreases the quality of a lot of those functions to increase the quantity. For gaming purposes while laying in bed or while on the train/road/airplane there will always be dedicated portable gaming devices. For staying in touch with friends and for listening to music there will always be tablets. I don't say there won't be any devices combining it (though Vita is driving the staying in touch part pretty far, almost like most tablets do.) or in between but I don't think the gadgets market is ready for it. Just look at how many people don't yet own a tablet. Many people are still consulting if they really should get one. So I think withing 2-3 years people do wan't a tablet sized gaming PC with dedicated gaming controlls but right now a device with nunchucks attached is just born to fail in todays market. Vita won't because people don't see it as an tablet competer. I don't think some housewife walks in a GAME store and sees the Vita and think its similar to Ipad or something. They will see it like a PSP/(3)DS (a gaming handheld) and thus it won't be harmed by the tablet market because people don't consider it a tablet (a really new and still unknown gadget) but as a handheld gaming device that finally delivers a console experience (A handheld gaming device is an known and trusted gadget) and people won't think about wether they not need it or use it but they see that there is Uncharted and COD on it and it has some innovative controls and looks really nice and just buy it. With a tablet people often think about the need and use of it.

So I don't feel like this is a competitor in any way, at least for the coming few years.

Am I the only one that thinks its pretty cool?
Saying that I probably would never get one becuase I get my PC gaming fix on my laptop ( SAGER too but with 580M GTX :), shout out to all my SAGER brothers!) and consoles.
A for effort but RAZER has a long way to go , if it was up to me I would get rid of the "handles" and just add a port for a regular gamepad.

I think everybody is forgetting the fact that this is a prototype and it's power is like a PS3 or even better since it's a PC with an awesome processor I mean i7 core damn that is really good and at least it's a better buy than a stupid Alienware MX11 that cost about the same. Or that new Alienware X51 that is $750 for just an i3 CPU. Indeed it's not a handheld but how else would you design it and prototypes never looks pretty if you look at NASA's prototype they look shitty as hell but on the final product it looks really good.

    Remember our opinion may vary.

How is an Alienware M11X stupid exactly, and how does it not easily exceed the PS3 in power? It's an i7 dual core processor computer, easily overclocked,8GB or ram, 1GB of dedicated video RAM (up to 4GB borrowed from your system memory) and runs Skyrim better than my PS3. And mine cost me less than this... thing. And this just the R2 version, not even the newer R3 which is even more powerful.

You also seem to be grasping at straws without facts to back it up when it comes to the X51. The X51 starts at an i3 processor for only 699. None of the X51s cost 750, so I have no clue what you're getting that figure from. For a fully functional computer (unlike this tablet) that's a great price. If you want it faster with an i7 processor, 1TB HDD, maxed out RAM, etc, it's still comparable to this tablet's cost, and it comes with things the tablet does not like an optical drive, and what I can expect a better graphics card and more RAM judging by how the tablet could barely play console ports before crashing.

Oh.. and there's the added benefit you don't look like a complete idiot while using one.

There's a reason why Alienware is often rated high (or best in show like they did when the M11X r2 came out) at conferences like CES. They make high quality computers that perform well at a very affordable price. I'm never on hold while calling customer support, and their computers hold their value years after purchase.

But sure... they're stupid. Great argument.

Alienware is for lazy people who cannot build their own computer, my $1000 computer beats the crap out of the desktop Alienware that cost $2000 and I'm sorry for getting the facts wrong about the X51 about the price but it still not worth $600 because you can make a better computer for a way lower price. But this tablet is only a prototype and for $1000 it's really strong and with the current battery technology of course the battery life will die out withing minutes, but hey all of us are getting the Vita but I'm going to get this as well for my cousin as a gift.

Yeah building your own PC saves tons of money, you can choose the highest quality components that are matching with your pricepoint. prebuild speclists only note that a GPU has 1gb but nothing about speeds and stuff. Also they tend to save a lot of money on parts like sound, graphics and cooling in pre builds. + if anything breaks down you can often repair/ replace it yourself and don't need to call service desk and wait 3 months before getting your PC back.

You're right. It is meant for people who can't build their own computers. But Lazy? Are you honestly calling people like me LAZY because I bought a store built laptop instead of building another tower? Well then I guess every person who has bought a store made PC or Mac is lazy then. I can build a basic PC for a ton cheaper than a basic Dell, so I guess everyone who has bought a Dell is just lazy now aren't they?

Furthermore, I don't own an Alienware desktop, and I only mentioned it to correct your pricing error. I have an Alienware laptop. And it does it's job perfectly. I had a custom made gaming rig, and it kicked this computers "ass", but I have yet to find anything this computer can't play on high settings. And considering I can't build my own laptop, I'd say 899 for an i7 processor, 8GB or RAM and 1GB in Video RAM isn't too shabby at all in a portable package.

Lastly, my custom PC was a chore. Let me tell you why. All your components, all of your drivers, all of your software is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. If something goes wrong, it's all up to you to fix it. I'm not a teenager anymore. I don't have time to tinker around with a computer like it's a hobby. I'm older, with a career, and while this computer gets used for gaming quite a bit, it's also my tool for completing important designs for my livelihood. If something goes wrong I can't afford to have it down for 2 weeks as I tinker around with it. A quick call to Alienware, them sending me a new HDD overnight with all the drivers I need along with a USB keyfob of Windows 7 ready to go, saves me time, money, and headaches. I'm happy that you apparently have all this time in the world to fix and maintain your PC. But it certainly doesn't make 99.99% of users who own store bought PCs and laptops lazy. Once again, I tried the custom PC route. And it was a beast of a computer. But it was also a giant headache, and it did NOT keep it's value like a branded PC would, even one less powerful. Is my M11X a quadcore Phenom monster...no. But then again it isn't pretending to be. It's a notebook sized computer with the power of a fairly powerful laptop that can handle any game current on the market. Will it be relevant in 4 years like my tower was? Probably not. Do I care? Not at all.

Getting back on topic this tablet is NOT a PC. It can run whatever it wants on it, but it is NOT a PC. It will never replace my workstation, and it will never replace a laptop. Tablets, no matter their capabilities, will always be "gadgets". Toys/tools to use while on the go. That fits my definition of what the Vita is. And at the price point, this tablet not only doesn't have a place in my life, or the space, but also completely shoots past the price range of a gadget. A device meant for play while on the go.

After my experience with Razer I will never buy anything from them ever again, especially something that is meant to LAST. Before I had any of the Razer products I fell in love with their design and approach towards certain products, I got the Razer Imperator which at first seemed really good, the sensor is very good, the design is amazing however the built quality is disgusting. I have the mouse no longer than maybe 6 months and the scroll wheel is starting to screech and skip, and the "back" button sometimes performs a double click and the funny thing is that I really care for all of my technological goodies so I am not at fault here (I have a few years old MX516, I'm sure most of you are familiar with the mouse and guess what? Everything is in perfect working order).

Another one of Razers fails is the Onza, now don't get me wrong I bought it myself (the tournament edition) and I love it to bits, it's amazing, the design is beautiful and some of the things that they did with that controller are just so convenient that I can't play on a normal pad anymore! But Razer broke my heart, after 3 months of use the left trigger input started jumping like crazy and now it refuses to work (going to replace it) and scary thing is I am not the only one, the internet is stuffed with people complaining about the Onza but what hurts me the most is that I still want another one, and even if that one breaks I will still desire a replacement (light bulb conspiracy much?).

Razer is full of amazing ideas and shitty quality. If Razer somehow fused with Logitech then I would literally worship them.
